Landmine clearance protection turned furniture
We have turned discarded protection gear from landmine clearance into furniture. We are still working on the details and some feedback from you to help with the development process would be most appreciated.
The purpose
The furniture is made using steel and decommisioned polycarbonate visors. After about 225 days out in the sun, working as protection for deminors faces as they clear landmines and remenants of war, these polycarbonate visors have been retired. But - instead of living out their days in a stinky landfill sweating BPA and micorplastics into nature, a new purpose has materialized
Previous life
These visors have been used by Norwegian peoples aid to do clearance in Kosovo. Learn more about their work here.
Lasting impact
This piece of furniture brings second life to plastic waste. Picking this piece of furniture over other alternatives saves the atmosphere from CO2-emissions, and nature from chemicals and microplastics. Additionally, parts of the proceeds will be directly donated back to the demining organisations from which the visors came from.
Pretty cool?
